I feel incredibly privileged to have been part of the intimate Working Memory Discussion Meeting at Parcevall Hall, which took place from Monday 26th June to Wednesday 28th June 2023. The informal atmosphere of this historic venue, nestled in the stunning Yorkshire Dales, created the perfect setting for three days of engaging intellectual discussions with leading minds in working memory research. What made the experience particularly special was the relaxed nature of our interactions – sharing ideas over cups of tea in the hall’s charming rooms and continuing our academic debates during walks through the beautiful gardens. The collegial spirit and intellectual rigour of these gatherings are quite unlike any other academic meeting I’ve attended. Those three summer days proved to be absolutely brilliant for exchanging ideas and building connections. Being able to contribute to discussions in such an esteemed setting, where countless groundbreaking ideas in working memory research have emerged over the years, was truly humbling. I’m particularly chuffed to have been part of this distinguished tradition, especially knowing that these meetings continue to shape the future of working memory research, leading up to the significant 50th anniversary of the Baddeley and Hitch framework in 2024.
